- EXT. POWER STATION - DAY

A
short video clip shows an alternate camera angle for this
scene. It's possible that this was shot for documentary
film purposes rather than the feature film itself.

- EXT. TATOOINE - LARS' HOMESTEAD - ENTRY AREA - SALT FLAT
2
From Michael Matessino's
ANH:SE soundtrack commentary:
"Williams originally
scored the scene with a darker, mysterious cue that did not utilize
thematic material. It was revised when George Lucas suggested
that Ben's theme would more effectively convey Luke's dreams of
leaving Tatooine." 3
This clip can be synchronized
with the film when started during the prior dinner conversation
as Luke says, "Yeah, that's what you said when Biggs and
Tank left."

- INT/EXT. LUKE'S SPEEDER - DESERT WASTELAND - TRAVELING - DAY
This music clip was scored to accompany extended footage of Luke
and C-3PO's search for R2-D2 in the Jundland Wastes. The first
22 seconds or so were not used in the final cut. The cue ends
as the Tusken Raiders make their appearance.

- INT. DEATH STAR - GARBAGE ROOM
From Michael Matessino's ANH:SE soundtrack commentary:
"Dianoga was written for the scene where Luke is nearly
killed by a beast inhabiting the garbage room, but it was decided
that the sequence played better with no scoring. (For the Special
Edition, however, a portion of this cue underscores the establishing
shots of Mos Eisley spaceport.) In it, different brass combinations
play climbing figures that are developed more fully in The
Trash Compactor, the beginning of which was also cut from
the film up to the chord which precedes the statement of the Imperial
theme." 3
This clip can be synchronized with the film when played back just
as the Dianoga's first roar is heard. Mid-way through, a few seconds
of silence exist before The Trash Compactor portion starts.

- INT. MASASSI OUTPOST - MAIN HANGAR DECK
Though this former cut scene has been restored to A New Hope,
a scripted line of dialogue which referred to Luke's father (and
his skill as a pilot) remains masked out of the conversation.
In this documentary footage some of that reference can briefly
be overheard.
